Police: Brothers' Wrestling Match Ends In Stabbing
WEST ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old man has been accused of stabbing his 15-year-old brother after wrestling near their West St. Paul home.
On April 25, 2012 at 7:54 p.m., police were called to Children's Hospital on the report of a 15-year-old boy stabbed in the leg. The responding officer met with the boys' father, who said that his sons had been wrestling across the street from their yard, when the older son got angry and stabbed his younger brother in the leg, police said.
The victim later told police that he and his brother, identified as Shawn Michael Sherman, were wrestling and that he was able to flip Sherman over onto his back. He said he then got up and walked away towards his father who was standing in the yard, which was when his older brother took out the knife and stabbed him in the left calf.
Sherman has been charged with one felony count of third-degree assault. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and/or a maximum fine of $10,000.
