Police: Boy, 2, Dies After Being Hit By Car In Corcoran
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a 2-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car Thursday evening in Corcoran.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said the Henry Gonzalez Lucas was hit at about 6 p.m. on the 7800 block of Maple Hill Road, in a mobile home park called Maple Hill Estates. He was then brought to Maple Grove Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Javier Gonzalez, a neighbor, said he was at the scene seconds after the boy was hit. He said a woman and a man got out of the car that hit Henry and picked him up.
"They left fast," he said, adding that the boy "looked limp."
Another neighbor, Amy Ingersoll, said people were out talking when a call came in from the family at the hospital saying Henry had passed.
Ingersoll, who is the mother of a 2-year-old, said she can't imagine the family's heartache.
"I would've freaked out," she said.
It was Henry's birthday Thursday, neighbors said.
Corcoran is about 20 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident. Deputies say they don't believe alcohol played a factor.
