Police: Body Of Drowning Victim Found On Lake Minnetonka
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The body of a 20-year-old drowning victim has been recovered from Lake Minnetonka, authorities say.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said a dive team found the victim around 6:20 p.m. in 67 feet of water about one mile from Big Island.
The victim is believed to be Kennedy Maddox, whom friends, family and classmates held a candle-light vigil for Wednesday evening. Maddox was a recent graduate of Minnetonka High School.
Witnesses said Maddox jumped off a boat to swim in the lake. He then began to struggle in the water and failed to come up again. Four people, who were on the boat he leaped from, searched for him in the water, but couldn't find him, police said.
The vigil for Maddox was held in the Excelsior Commons.
