Police: Body Found In Car At Columbia Heights Impound Lot
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are investigating after a body was found in a car more than a week after it had been towed from Brooklyn Park to Columbia Heights.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said they believe the body, which was found Thursday, to be that of an 18-year-old girl who lived in St. Paul but have not released her identity. They're calling it an active death investigation and aren't releasing many details.
Authorities say the vehicle was towed on Feb. 13 from an apartment complex in Brooklyn Park to an impound lot on the 3800 block of Central Avenue NE in Columbia Heights. The tow truck driver was working under a private arrangement that did not involve any law enforcement, and the driver did not see the body in the car. It's also not the practice of private towing companies to do an inventory of a car when it's towed.
Police said the body was concealed inside the passenger compartment of the car. No other information is being released at this time as the death investigation is ongoing. The agencies involved include Brooklyn Park Police, Columbia Heights Police, St. Paul Police and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
