Police: $100K Skimming Scheme At Rosedale Food Court
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Roseville Police are seeking the public's help in locating victims of a Rosedale Center food court restaurant credit and debit card skimming scheme.
The losses suffered by financial institutions victimized by the skimming scheme are estimated at approximately $100,000.
Roseville Police began receiving calls in May from Rosedale Center employees complaining their credit or debit cards were being compromised and used throughout the United States, despite the fact that they still had their cards. A number of banks and credit unions also began alerting authorities to having compromised credit/debit cards, reporting that all their customers had recently used the cards at the Chinese Gourmet Express located in the food court.
On June 21, law enforcement executed a search warrant at the restaurant, confiscating business receipts, cellular telephones, computer equipment, surveillance imaging and a credit card machine for further investigation.
Detectives interviewed a number of restaurant employees but no arrests have been made.
Shortly after the search warrant, Chinese Express' corporate office in California contacted the lead detective and explained the corporation was aware of the computer breach approximately two weeks earlier, but hadn't notified local law enforcement.
Roseville Police are seeking customers of the restaurant who have had their cards compromised after eating at the restaurant between March 1 and June 1. They are asked to call 651-792-7297. Investigators wish to compile a list of victims and their losses.
