For Mara Marin, she awoke on Tuesday to loud booms outside her family's townhome.
Two men were shot in the parking lot, but when Mara looked out the window, the men were already gone, taken away in an SUV.
"The car was driven by a female that left the scene of where the shooting happened," Sgt. Rory Bochniak said.
When police found the car, one of the victims was dead.
"Pretty shocking that something like that would happen in Burnsville," neighbor Jerald Harris said.
One of the bullets struck a car, and the other went through a family's home just one story below where three children were sleeping.
No one inside the home or the car was hurt.
