Plymouth Man Charged For Allegedly Selling Counterfeit Cell Phones Online
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 39-year-old Plymouth man faces charges for allegedly selling refurbished and counterfeit cell phones on the Internet while claiming they were new, according to the Department of Justice.
In federal court Wednesday, Mario Samson was charged with one count of trafficking counterfeit goods.
According to the department, Samson intentionally tried to sell cell phones and accessories that bore counterfeit marks identical to the trademarks of multiple electronics companies. He allegedly tried to traffic the counterfeit merchandise from May 1, 2010, to July 19, 2011.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Samson's sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge, the department said.
