Pitino Announces Changes To Gophers Coaching Staff
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Richard Pitino announced Tuesday two additions to his coaching staff.
Nate Pomeday, who had been the director of basketball operations, was promoted to become an assistant coach. He is replacing Dan McHale, who was recently named the new head coach at Eastern Kentucky. Ryan Livingston was named Minnesota's director of basketball operations to fill Pomeday's spot.
Before coming to Minnesota, Pomeday spent six seasons as an assistant at Oregon State and is a 1999 graduate of Northwestern.
"Nate was the natural choice for a variety of reasons," Pitino said. "He's hard-working, loyal and understands what our culture is about on a daily basis. He proved to be a great recruiter at Oregon State and understands the landscape of the Big Ten."
Livingston spent the last three seasons as a special assistant to the head coach at Villanova. He oversaw all video operations, including scouting and team breakdowns as well as advanced statistics.
