Pekovic Named Western Conference Player Of The Week
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic has been named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week, the first such honor for the team in more than four years.
The award was announced Monday. Pekovic averaged 25 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 58.9 percent from the floor over four games last week. The Wolves won three of them, and the 6-foot-11 Pekovic led the team in scoring in all four games.
Pekovic is averaging a career-high 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds in 31.8 minutes per game this season.
The last Timberwolves player to be picked as the Western Conference Player of the Week was Al Jefferson in January 2009.
