Driver Killed After Leaving Vehicle On Highway 169
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says a driver was struck and killed after leaving their vehicle on Highway 169 in Bloomington Wednesday morning.
The patrol said the crash happened at Pioneer Trail at about 10:15 a.m. A Honda Civic driver was parked along the right shoulder and got out of the vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was struck by a passing Peterbilt Tractor trailer.
It was not clear how many people were in the trailer or if any of them were injured in the incident.
On Wednesday afternoon, the State Patrol identified the driver killed in the incident as 45-year-old Danh Le of Minneapolis. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Police said both lands of northbound 169 were closed for a short time after the incident, and traffic was diverted up and down the ramps at Pioneer Trail.
