Patrol: Help Find Suspect Whose Car Hit Road Construction Worker
NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities are searching for the suspect who allegedly hit a highway construction worker Wednesday night in New Brighton and then fled the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol said the worker, who was sawing concrete as part of the repair project, was struck at 9:50 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-694, west of the ramp from the interstate to Long Lake Road.
Lt. Eric Roeske said the worker is Lewis Patch, a 42-year-old from Lakeview, Mich. His injuries are non-life threatening, but are significant, Roeske said. Patch was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and his condition is not known.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a black Honda sedan, and after hitting Patch, it exited the closed ramp by dodging barricades, saws and other equipment.
At the top of the ramp, the car crossed the grass median to drive around barricades, sustaining extensive damage to its front end.
