Patrol: Freezing Rain Making Travel In NW Minn. Treacherous
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The State Patrol is urging drivers in northern Otter Tail and southern Becker counties to be extra cautious Monday morning as freezing rain has made roadways treacherous.
Sgt. Jesse Grabow tweeted that conditions on Highway 108 from Pelican Rapids to Dent are extremely icy. An image in the tweet shows ice caked on a squad car's rear-view mirror and emergency lights. Grabow estimated seeing between a 1/4 to 3/8 an inch of ice on the road.
As of 10 a.m., the State Patrol reported nine crashes in the area, one with minor injuries. There were also 10 vehicles that went off road and two semis that jackknifed.
