Pajama Party Held At Children's Hospital
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- "The Dude," who hosts a closed-circuit television program for the patients at Children's Hospital of Minnesota, was decked out in his footy PJs for Thursday's special event: a pajama party.
The purpose of the party was "to involve the children's hospitals here and bring a little fun to the kids that have to be in the hospital, so all the kids that are in the hospital can watch this great show and be part of a pajama party and just make them feel a little more like home," said Wendy Berezovsky founder of the organization Sweet Dreams for Kids.
Sweet Dreams provided cozy, new sleepwear to all the young patients of the children's hospital during the party, inspiring smiles and celebration.
"We started Sweet Dreams for Kids after my youngest daughter Dalya, who is now 7, was born with cancer. So we wanted to do something to give back to other kids and bring smiles to them when they're in the hospital," said Berezovsky.
The organization has distributed pajamas to two hospitals in Minnesota and 10 others across the U.S., but the goal is to bring cozier nights and brighter days to all sick children.
"My goal is to have every children's hospital nationwide filled with fun, cute, comfy pajamas instead of hospital ones," said Berezovsky.
Samantha, a patient at Children's Hospital, agrees with Wendy's mission. The surprise of cozy, new pink PJs of her own really brightened her day.
"I think it's really neat, so some kids don't have to wear the hospital pajamas, so they can get their own, so it's really cool," she said. "I didn't know I was going to get them. They're really comfy."
