Packers Won't Bring Cheerleaders To Super Bowl
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers won't be bringing cheerleaders or other home-game promotional groups to the Super Bowl in Texas.
The St. Norbert College and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's cheerleading squads serve as the Packers' cheerleaders at home games.
Team spokesman Aaron Popkey says the cheerleaders, the Tundra Line, DJ Malcolm and the Ambassador Line are unique to Lambeau Field and are not involved in road games.
The cheer squads have performed since the team disbanded its squad in the 1980s.
Ann Rodrian, UW-Green Bay cheer coach, tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette the cheer teams were invited to the two Packers Super Bowls in the 1990s, but that they had to raise most of their own funding.
Rodrian says the Packers told her the role of squads had changed since then.
