Kylie's Kids: Owen's Special Birthday Update

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Kylie Bearse loves sharing the stories of children from our local children's Hospitals, and it's even more fun when our viewers get involved with our Kylie's Kids.

Last week we introduced you to Owen, who is fighting T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, which he calls his "cancer bug."

While he's at Masonic Children's Hospital, he has been very big on making plans. One of those included his pirate-themed birthday party this past weekend.

After his story aired, Bearse said she was contacted by "real" pirates here in the Twin Cities. They wanted to crash Owen's birthday party.

So Captain Jack, Captain Hook & their friends surprised the now 6-year-old Owen on Sunday for his birthday party.

They said they had an absolute blast celebrating with Owen. And it looks like he did, too.

Owen has chemotherapy through April.
