Owatonna Library Offers Free Music Downloads
OWATONNA, Minn. (AP) -- A library in southern Minnesota says it's first in the state to offer a free music download service.
All it takes is a card from the Owatonna Public Library to access the program called Freegal. Cardholders use their ID numbers to log into the Freegal web site and browse through hundreds of thousands of songs in the Sony Music Library. Owatonna is allowing up to three songs a week for library patrons.
The library's assistant director Renee Lowery says no special software is needed because it's a web-based program.
The Owatonna People's Press says there are currently 120 libraries in the country using Freegal.
