OSHA: New Rules Should Keep MN Window Washers Safer
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – New safety regulations will hopefully keep window washers who work on tall buildings in Minnesota safer.
Minnesota's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said three workers died on the job in the last couple of years, including 25-year-old Ryan John Shannon, who fell eight stories to his death from an apartment building in St. Louis Park last June.
The new safety standards require employers to have a comprehensive written safety plan. Also, workers who go above 14 feet on a building must be given comprehensive training in several key areas, including fall protection and proper care, use and inspection of equipment.
