One Teen Killed, Two Others Seriously Hurt In Burnsville Crash
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) - A teenager is dead and two others are severely hurt after their car slammed into a traffic ramp. The crash happened in Burnsville early Saturday morning in the area of Nicollet Boulevard and Grand Avenue.
Throughout the day mangled metal and debris littered the side of the road in Burnsville as police spent hours piecing together the crash. Before the crash, police said they were called to the Best Western Premier Nicollet Inn, less than a mile away, for a noise complaint. They said they saw the same group of teens hop in a car and speed away.
"I think that's pretty sad. I think they were probably somewhere they shouldn't have been and they probably weren't making good choices that night," said Elliot Mills, who works near the crash site and navigated through road closures.
The crash happened near a United State Postal Service Office. USPS custodian Mark Lawrence spent the day cleaning up debris outside.
"There were some headlamps, battery parts," he said.
With the crash happening just feet away from the busy post office, he's thankful none of his coworkers were hurt.
"Quite a bit of debris came off and hit the building," Lawrence said.
The two teens with severe injuries were taken to Hennepin Healthcare. Police have not yet released their names or ages.
The Minnesota State Patrol is helping in the investigation.
