One Dead In I-694 Crash In Brooklyn Center
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (WCCO) - One person was killed Monday night after an SUV rear-ended a semi-truck on Interstate 694 in Brooklyn Center, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded to the crash at about 7:50 p.m. on I-694 at Shingle Creek Parkway. When they arrived, a 1999 Ford Expedition was driving eastbound on the right shoulder around traffic when at the last minute, the driver cut over into the right lane. A semi-truck was stopped in that lane, and the driver of the SUV rear-ended the semi-trailer.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 62-year-old Joanne Rogers of Maple Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the driver of the semi -- 56-year-old Kenneth Spaid -- has not been released.
The crash is still under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Brooklyn Center Police.
