On Roe v. Wade Anniversary, Thousands Gather For Pro-Life Rally At State Capitol
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Thousands of people from across Minnesota bundled up and headed to the State Capitol for an issue they're passionate about.
Friday marks the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade -- the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Every year, the group Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) holds a pro-life rally on the anniversary.
"Too many babies killed, and too many women hurt and families destroyed while abortionists get rich," MCCL Executive Board Member Jaclynn Miller told the crowd. "Stop abortion now."
The lobbying group wants to pass a law requiring clinics to undergo state licensing and inspections.
Planned Parenthood, says women should have safe access to legal abortion services to protect their health, and the health of their families. In a statement, the company said:
"We will continue to fight for every woman's right to make her own personal decisions and we refuse to allow politicians to take us backwards."
