Officials: Passers-By Use Snorkel To Help Man Pinned In Car Crash
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two good Samaritans traveling through central Minnesota over the weekend used a snorkel to great effect, but not underwater.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the two used the piece of swimming equipment to help a man pinned inside of a car breathe until emergency crews could get him out.
The man became trapped inside of the car after a crash Saturday afternoon near the junction of Highway 7 and Chippewa County Road 33. The car, in which he was a passenger, had gone off road and down a steep ravine.
The driver was able to get out, and he waved down the two passers-by, who turned out to be the good Samaritans.
A helicopter lifted the passenger, identified as 31-year-old Soses Dokoche of Milan, Minn., to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.
Emergency crews brought the driver, 26-year-old Bantaser Kantito, also of Milan, to Chippewa County – Montevideo Hospital for treatment. He was later released.
The crash remains under investigation.
