Officer Punched While Trying To Break Up Fight
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police said an officer in St. Cloud was punched in the face while trying to break up a fight early Saturday morning outside of a Jimmy John's restaurant.
Officers said they were called to the store around 2:20 a.m. on a report that three men were fighting.
One man fled when police arrived. The other two men, 21-year-old Andrew Messerich and 23-year-old Adam Campbell were still on the scene.
When police tried to arrest Campbell, he punched an officer in the face. The crime report said the officer suffered "substantial, but non life-threatening injuries."
Campbell was brought to Stearns County Jail where he was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.
Messerich was arrested for disorderly conduct and also brought to Stearns County Jail.
