Officer Involved In New Hope Shooting Identified
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Crystal Police are releasing the name of the officer involved in an off-duty shooting Friday in New Hope. Jerry Krob was at a Holiday station Friday morning when he was involved in some sort of interaction with a man who'd been involved in two earlier assaults.
That man, identified by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office as 38-year-old Eric Landers of Minneapolis, was shot. He is then suspected of taking Krob's vehicle and taking off. He was eventually arrested in Minneapolis, and authorities said his injuries were not life threatening.
While police are not saying what led to the shooting, Crystal's police chief said she believes her officer was in the right.
"I am confident that this investigation will determine that (Krob) acted in accordance with department policy and it will be determined that this was justified use of force," said Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Fealy.
Krob is a 13-year veteran with the Crystal Police Department. He is on paid administrative leave while the Hennepin County Sheriffs Office investigates.
