Notre Dame Edges Minnesota 4-3
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Riley Sheahan had two goals and an assist on Saturday to lead fifth-ranked Notre Dame to a 4-3 win over third-ranked Minnesota in men's college hockey.
Sheahan scored two straight goals in just over three minutes of the second period to give the Fighting Irish (13-6-3) the lead for good.
T.J. Tynan had a goal and an assist and Sean Lorenz assisted on two goals for the Irish.
Minnesota (15-7-1) was playing in a game between Top 5 teams for the first time since 2008. The Golden Gophers dropped to 4-4-1 in their last nine games despite getting two goals in 31 seconds late in the third period.
Taylor Matson, Zach Budish and Nick Bjugstad scored for Minnesota, while Kent Patterson made 26 saves.
Steven Summerhays had 31 saves for Notre Dame.
