Norway's King And Queen To Visit Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway visit Duluth Monday.
And the Duluth News Tribune reports they'll never be far from signs of their homeland.
They'll spend time in Norway Hall, just around the corner from Takk for Maten Scandinavian Cafe. The name is Norwegian for "thanks for the food." The king will rededicate Enger Tower, named for a Norwegian American who donated the land where it sits and the money that built the tower. King Harald's father first dedicated the tower in 1939.
But the royals won't see Leif Erikson Park, named for Norway's most famous explorer, and they won't eat lefse or lutefisk in a church basement.
On Sunday, the king and queen attended a church service at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and a reception at Gov. Mark Dayton's official residence.
