Northeast Couple Builds Charitable Halloween Maze
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There's a house in northeast Minneapolis where you can get some treats this Halloween, but there are some tricks involved.
That's because the house, located at 1724 37th Ave. Northeast, has a haunted-house maze that will give you a real scare. However, you have to bring a food shelf donation to join in the fun.
Christi Schuda said she's always liked Halloween and that her husband, Jeff Schuda, began to like it too when she made him build her a Halloween maze.
The maze takes the Schudas every weekend in October to set up. It's built for teenagers and adults, and there are 15 cast members in costume throughout. Visitors have to feel their way through the maze and decide which doors to use. And if they stumble upon a dead end, they are usually in for a scary sight.
Jeff Schuda has a background in construction, so the work on the maze came naturally to him. However, he had to build an addition to the garage to store all the props.
The Schudas started the maze for years ago, and since then some 1,300 visitors have gone through it. Last year, the maze raised 450 pounds of food to give to charity, Christi Schuda said.
The maze is open until 9 p.m.
