North Minneapolis Fire Sends Girl, 6, To Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a 6-year-old girl had to be hospitalized Friday morning and was one of 10 people displaced after a house fire in north Minneapolis.

Crews responded to the area of 25th Avenue and 4th Street North early Friday morning on a report of a fire. When authorities arrived, there was a fire in an upper apartment of a duplex. A 6-year-old girl was trapped in a bedroom and had to be rescued. She was taken to North Memorial Medical Center for smoke inhalation.

Authorities said three adults and seven children lived in the unit, and everyone got out safely. Crews are still assessing the damage from the fire, which they said likely started in the kitchen and spread to the living room.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
