North Dakota Voters Keep Property Taxes
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Voters in North Dakota have decided not to get rid of property taxes, despite all the money coming in from the oil boom to boost their local economy.
In a Tuesday primary, 77 percent of the voters said they did not want to eliminate property taxes.
The other controversial ballot question yesterday was about the University of North Dakota's "Fighting Sioux" nickname.
In that vote, 67 percent of the voters said yes, get rid of it. The nickname was banned by the NCAA which said it was "hostile" and "abusive."
