N.D. Farmer Pays Tribute To Prince Via Field Art
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- You don't have to be from Minnesota to want to honor the memory of superstar musician Prince. A farmer in neighboring North Dakota took to the field to craft a special tribute.
Gene Hanson created what may be one of the largest Prince symbols yet in Edgeley, North Dakota.
Hanson fashioned what fans refer to as the "Love Symbol," but also is often referred to as "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince," in his field last week in honor of the pop celebrity.
"I have a little tractor and a three point disc, and I had an emblem on the dash of the tractor and I just went out in the field and started to work," he said. "I actually haven't even been a Prince fan. But since they've been making such a big deal of it in Minneapolis, I thought, well you know, I might try that."
Hanson said that he believes the symbol is roughly 300 by 200 feet in size.
It won't be there long, though, as he will soon begin planting corn.
This isn't the first art Hanson has done in his field. He has previously used his equipment to write messages like "Pray for rain."
