North Dakota Beats Minn. St., Mankato 3-0
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Brad Eidsness made 29 saves as North Dakota concluded the regular season with a 3-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday.
The Fighting Sioux (20-12-3, 16-11-1) will open the WCHA playoffs next weekend at home, while the Mavericks (12-22-2, 8-18-2) travel to Minnesota Duluth.
Mark MacMillan had a goal in the first period and Nick Mattson added a second-period score on the power play.
The Sioux outshot the Mavericks 30-29
MSUM goalie Austin Lee made 27 saves.
North Dakota earned the fourth seed for the playoffs and will host the first round for the 10th straight year, the longest active streak in the WCHA.
