N.D. To Receive $705,000, 130 Volunteers For AmeriCorps Programs
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota is receiving $705,000 for AmeriCorps programs that will add more than 130 volunteers to the state.
The state received the funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that includes AmeriCorps.
AmeriCorps is a nationwide community service program. Its members are involved with programs in education, the environment, disaster response and recovery, and supporting veterans and military families.
North Dakota AmeriCorps Program administrator Ryan Volk says more than 1,800 AmeriCorps members in North Dakota have served 2 million hours and earned more than $4.5 million in education scholarships.
