North Branch Tobacco Shop Raided, Synthetic Pot Seized
NORTH BRANCH, Minn. (WCCO) – A North Branch tobacco shop was raided by authorities Friday, who seized hundreds of grams of illegal synthetic marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash.
According to North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer, police and deputies from the East Central Drug and Violent Crimes Task Forces executed a search warrant of King Tobacco after undercover agents made purchases of synthetic marijuana. These illegal drugs were marketed as herbal incense.
Authorities seized 250 one- and three-gram packets of synthetic marijuana, which totaled 446 grams. The retail value is over $6,400.
Agents also seized more than $8,000 in cash.
No one was arrested in the raid, and criminal charges are currently pending.
Synthetic marijuana can contain toxic chemicals and may produce psychotic episodes in some users.
