New Ulm Girl Thrilled To Meet President
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - President Obama's visit to Minnesota made a dream come true for a 16-year-old girl from New Ulm.
Myriah Soukup shook hands with President Obama right after Air Force One landed in the Twin Cities.
Myriah suffers from a complex disorder called CHARGE syndrome, and is blind and deaf.
Her mom told WCCO that Myriah was a fan of the President Obama since he was an Illinois Senator. And when he started his presidential run, Myriah even campaigned for him.
"We tried to downplay it because we didn't know if he'd come up and see her," said Myriah's mom.
President Obama signed Myriah's photo of him, writing "Dear Myriah, dream big!"
Besides Myriah, her parent and her sister Hali also were given the opportunity to shake hands with the President.
