New Restaurants, Shops Could Soon Be Coming To MSP
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Passengers traveling through Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport could soon have new food and shopping choices.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission has 50 options to consider, as dozens of spaces at the airport have leases that have expired or will expire soon.
The commission will decide what will stay and what will be replaced.
Airport officials say they want to offer travelers a fresh variety of retail and food options when they visit MSP.
The airport asked for proposals back in March that could expand products and offer competitive pricing for travelers.
A review team then looked over the submissions and made its recommendation to the airports commission earlier this week.
Some options the airports commission will consider include a full-service craft beer bar and restaurant and a food truck-style food court.
The airports commission is expected to make a decision on Aug. 17.
Leaders will release specifics about exact retail and food names after contracts are finalized.
As for the timelines, the airport doesn't want all areas to shut down at once while new concessions settle in.
So, the plan is start making changes in October and complete in phases over 18 months.
