New Hastings Bridge Opens To Southbound Traffic Monday Night
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Motorists in Hastings should expect a traffic switch with the new Hastings Bridge opening to southbound traffic on Highway 61 Monday night.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced the switch early Monday afternoon.
Northbound traffic will continue to use the old Hastings Bridge until Tuesday night.
The old Hastings Bridge will be deconstructed starting at around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will not be allowed to use the new bridge until all four lanes are open to traffic. A 12-foot-wide pedestrian and bicycle path will be completed at the end of the year.
MnDOT says local businesses and residences on both sides of the bridge will not be affected.
