New Ethics Complaint Filed Against Iowa Senator
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A former aide to Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann has filed a second ethics complaint against an Iowa state senator, alleging the lawmaker broke Senate rules by seeking payment for political work.
Peter Waldron filed the complaint Sept. 12 against Milo Republican Kent Sorenson. He says a Sorenson aide sought compensation from Ron Paul's presidential campaign in exchange for Sorenson leaving the Bachmann campaign and endorsing Paul.
Waldron says Sorenson conspired in efforts to steal a list of home-school supporters' email information and claims the list was highlighted to the Paul campaign by Sorenson allies during negotiations.
Waldron's complaint was based off information published by The Iowa Republican website. In his previous complaint, Waldron claimed Sorenson took improper payments from Bachmann's campaign.
Sorenson didn't immediately respond to a phone message.
