Neighbors Welcome U2 Concert To TCF Bank Stadium
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- U2 will hit the stage at TCF Bank Stadium Saturday night for their 360º Tour.
I's a massive outdoor concert that brings a major sound system that will blast the stadium for blocks on Saturday night, but neighbors don't seem to mind.
"It's U2. It's a big deal," said Whitney Sharpe. Sharpe lives near the stadium and is a University of Minnesota student. "I hear there's going to be 60,000 people coming to it. That will be the most seats ever filled at TCF Bank Stadium."
On Thursday the assistant athletic director, Scott Ellison, said he had been working with the Stadium Area Advisory Group, but he had yet to hear any concerns.
Laura Fuller has two small children and can see the stadium from her street.
"I think we can sleep through it," said Fuller.
She's not concerned with the music, but she is concerned with traffic and getting around.
"We might go out in the evening, so maybe we won't be able to get back home," said Fuller.
Doug Parry, who lives down the street from the stadium on University Avenue, says living near the campus he knew what to expect. He says it's the usual: cheering football fans and late night student traffic.
The music will begin at 7 p.m. and run until 11 p.m., according to staff at the stadium.
