Near Drowning Victims To Thank First Responders
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Several people will be honored Tuesday for helping save the lives of two small children.
During a blizzard last December, a 6-year-old girl fell into an outdoor swimming pool in Richfield. Her 8-year-old cousin went in to try to rescue her.
Police officers and neighbors got the kids out by first breaking down the six foot privacy fence around the backyard. They jumped into the 32 degree water to get the kids out. The 6-year-old was unconscious and needed CPR. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution. They have both made a full recovery. The family will be at Tuesday's award ceremony. They will be reunited with the first responders for the first time.
