ND Residents Upset With Proposed Power Line
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Some southeast North Dakota residents want state regulators to alter the route of a proposed power transmission line.
The 210-mile CapX2020 line will run from a substation near Casselton south and east, passing near Hickson on its way to Minnesota. The North Dakota Public Service Commission already has found that the project with 33 miles of line in the state is justified but has yet to approve the line's route. No deadline has been set for a decision.
Some Cass County residents at a Monday hearing in Fargo said they worry that the line will lower their property values. Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer says the concerns will be studied.
The CapX2020 project is backed by a consortium of Minnesota utilities. The 210-mile line could cost up to $750 million.
