'Nature-Deficit Disorder' Author Visits Arboretum
CHANHSSEN, Minn. (AP) -- The author who warned that America's children suffer from "nature-deficit disorder" kicks off a national book tour at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen.
Richard Louv will be discussing his new book "The Nature Principle: Human Restoration and the End of Nature-Deficit Disorder" when he appears for a signing and discussion Monday night.
Louv's earlier best-seller, "Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder," launched an international movement to reconnect children with nature. He says reconnection to the natural world is fundamental to human health, well-being, spirit and survival. He says the more high-tech people's lives become, the more nature they need.
Louv will also be the keynote speaker Tuesday at a public policy conference at the Arboretum, which is part of the University of Minnesota.
