Vikings TE Mycole Pruitt Seeks More Snaps In Mankato

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings feel confident in the quality of their depth chart, which we all know is so important given the certainty of injuries in the course of the season.

One of those key backups looking to get more snaps at U.S. Bank Stadium this upcoming season is tight end MyCole Pruitt.

When you're in the second year of training camp, it is important to do it right.

"It's just about getting prepared for the season," Pruitt said. "We haven't had pads on for a while, so you get back into the rhythm, get back out here with your teammates and just, you know, get the game back down and fine tune your craft."

Kyle Rudolph is obviously option number one at tight end. But with a new tight end coach in Pat Shurmur, and perhaps some new wrinkles, option number two could be important in terms of opening up the field -- and that is where Pruitt comes in.

What he wants is to be a reliable option on a team that is offensively diverse.

"We have a lot of playmakers on this team, so I feel like we're very versatile and we can spread the ball around a lot," Pruitt said.

And he hopes to prove he is worthy under the microscope of training camp.

"It's all about just getting better every day. It's really just self-motivation," Pruitt said. "And obviously, you know, those guys are always looking at you no matter what. But when you're self-motivated to get better every day, you can only go up."
