1 Dead After Head-On Crash In St. Paul; Police Suspect Alcohol Was A Factor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Paul police say alcohol is suspected in a head-on crash early Wednesday morning that left a man dead.

The St. Paul Police Department says the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on Concord Street, near the intersection of Page Street, in the West Side neighborhood.

While police say it's not entirely clear how the crash unfolded, they believe a Honda Accord traveling southeast on Concord Street struck a Saturn pulling out of a driveway.

The collision trapped the driver of the Saturn in his vehicle. Emergency crews freed him from the wreckage and attempted to treat his injuries, but he died at the scene.

The driver of the Accord, a 19-year-old man, was also injured. Crews brought him to Regions Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that after the 19-year-old is released from the hospital he will be jailed on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation.

The crash remains under investigation.
