MSU Student Assaulted At Knifepoint
MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- A Minnesota State University-Mankato student is in custody following an armed assault at the university's library.
Authorities say a male student was grabbed from behind at knifepoint in a bathroom Wednesday night, but was able to escape. Police were called to the Memorial Library on campus at about 7:15 p.m.
City spokeswoman Shelly Schulz says when police officers arrived they found other students had detained the 19-year-old assailant. Police arrested Kevin Joseph Renquist, who could be facing charges including second-degree assault, terroristic threats and other charges.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said both Renquist and the victim are students at MSU-Mankato, and the incident is still under investigation.
