MSU-Mankato's Gage Hall To Be Imploded June 29-30
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials announced Thursday that Gage Hall on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus will be imploded June 29-30.
Gage Hall, which is 47 years old, housed more than 50,000 students as well as the staff and players of the Minnesota Vikings during their NFL training camp. Officials said, weather permitting, the implosion of the Gage Hall towers will happen in the early-morning hours of June 29 or June 30.
In the event weather conditions don't allow the implosion to happen that weekend, it will be moved to the following weekend, July 6-7. The decision will ultimately be up to the City of Mankato and the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
Officials said there will be a 1,000-foot radius around the implosion site for up to 12 hours before and four hours after the event. Buildings that are within that distance will be closed off.
