MSU Mankato, Vikings Delay Decision On Training Camp
MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- Minnesota State University at Mankato and the Minnesota Vikings say they will delay Monday's decision on whether to hold training camp.
Vikings officials say while they had previously set a deadline for Monday, ongoing discussions have given the Vikings and the university reason to hold off on a final decision.
"Both parties remain hopeful that the team will be practicing in front of Vikings fans in Mankato this summer," said a statement from the Vikings.
Mankato officials say the facility is ready for the Minnesota Vikings. Now all it needs is -- the Minnesota Vikings.
The residence halls have been prepared for the players. Myers Fieldhouse is ready for training sessions and the fields are set to go for practice.
A source tells The Associated Press talks to end the NFL lockout resume with the court-appointed mediator in New York Monday and could continue through Thursday, when the owners have a special meeting set in Atlanta.
The Free Press reports more than 60,000 visitors come to Mankato for Vikings camp and spend an estimated $5 million to $6 million. MSU's training camp contract expires after this summer.
