MPS, U Of M Head Back To School
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A number of students in the Twin Cities area are heading back to school Monday.
Students with Minneapolis Public Schools are beginning classes Monday. MPS starts a week earlier than many other districts, all of which won't go back until the day after Labor Day.
This is the first year for Superintendent Ed Graff. He started back at the beginning of July.
Easter Carver County is also headed back to school.
They're going back early due to the Ryder Cup, because the PGA uses Chaska High School for volunteer training, shuttle parking and more.
Finally, it is the start of move-in at the University of Minnesota.
The Freshman Class of 2020 has more than 5,800 students, which the 'U' said is one of the largest freshman classes on record.
Welcome Week is all this week, and classes begin next Tuesday.
