Mpls. Woman Pleads Guilty To Sex Trafficking A Teenager
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis woman pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday to sex trafficking a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Kimberly Susan Latham, 33, faces at least 10 years in prison and could receive life behind bars. Her sentence length will be determined at a future hearing.
According to court documents, Latham recruited, harbored and transported the minor, who she forced to engage in a commercial sex act. Latham allegedly received money from the minor's participation, and paid for advertisements on an Internet website.
An estimated 2.4 million people worldwide are victims of human trafficking. Between 14,500 and 17,500 are within the United States, said the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
