Mpls. Restaurant To Donate 100 Percent Of Proceeds To Quake Relief
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A south Minneapolis restaurant owned by Nepal natives says it'll donate all the money it earns from three days next week to relief efforts in earthquake-ravaged Nepal.
The Himalayan Restaurant, located on 2910 East Lake Street, said Wednesday that every penny customers spend from May 5 through May 7 will go to provide relief.
"There are still thousands of people missing and many thousands injured," the restaurant said in a statement. "Millions more are now without water, food, electricity and shelter and fuel. The Nepali people need our help."
The owners say they will cover wages and expenses during the fundraising period.
The death toll from Saturday's massive earthquake has now surpassed 5,000, and crews are still removing bodies from the rubble.
