Mpls. Committee Approves Beer, Wine Sales At Lake Harriet
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Twin Cities dwellers will likely soon be able to enjoy a drink while spending time at a popular Twin Cities lake.
A Minneapolis city council committee approved a wine and beer license Monday night for the Bread and Pickle eatery along Lake Harriet, according to reports.
The Minneapolis Park Board previously approved the move to give the eatery a liquor license.
Kim Bartmann -- of Cafe Barbette, Bryant Lake Bowl and more -– said she wants to offer four kinds of wine and six local microbrews, with the beer cooler up in the roof.
Bartmann said they'll put up planters to delineate where you can have alcohol and where you can't. But the planters will be spread far apart to allow foot traffic to flow in and out.
Owners say it will take about 4 to 6 weeks before they're ready to start serving drinks. It will cost Bartmann an estimated $80,000 to build the infrastructure to serve beer and wine.
The City of Minneapolis will make its final decision next week.
