Mpls. Committee Approves $237K Settlement Over Redskins Bus Crash
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The City of Minneapolis will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars following a bus accident involving the Washington Redskins.
A Minneapolis police officer escorting the team buses to the game last November crashed his squad into a guard rail at Interstate 94 and Huron Boulevard.
The team's buses collided as they tried to avoid the squad.
The officer and some of the football players were hurt.
A city committee approved a $237,254.48 settlement to the Lorenz Bus Company and Gotham Insurance Monday afternoon.
"MPD administration and the City Attorney's Office believe that the proposed settlement is in the best interests of the City and recommend approval by this Committee and the City Council," the committee said in a form presented by a city attorney.
